I teach all styles and genres of music associated with the acoustic guitar such as folk, pop, and rock.
I teach the whole range of techniques appropriate to the particular style or genre of music, such as pick/plectrum playing and more advanced fingerpicking/fingerstyle techniques.
Lesson plans can be based upon your favourite music, within a structure using the accredited grade systems of formal music institutions such as the RGT (Registry of Guitar Tutors - London College of Music). Examinations are not obligatory, you can learn at your own pace, purely for fun if you so wish.
During your lesson I will provide all materials and equipment as necessary. I can provide instruments for use during your lesson, perhaps if you are a beginner who has not yet purchased your first guitar, or someone who is looking to try out a better quality instrument from examples in my collection, but in other cases my advice is to bring your own guitar because that is the instrument you will become most comfortable with as you practice with it.
I can advise on the techniques of open mic nights, band/group rehearsals, playing gigs, as well as advising on your instrument and equipment purchases.
Lesson fees in my teaching studio are £28 per hour or £15 per half hour for young children. Lessons can be weekly, fortnightly, or by some other arrangement. Your first lesson is always free and without obligation. I am happy for you to bring along a friend or two to learn as a small group whereby individual discounts can be offered. I also offer discounts for groups of several lessons reserved and paid for in advance. Home visits are by arrangement, and Skype lessons are available for those who wish to study in their own home and avoid the time and costs associated with travel.
